G. Scott Acton is Assistant Professor of Psychology at Rochester Institute of Technology. His interests include interpersonal aspects of personality, psychopathology, and psychotherapy; assessment, prevention, and treatment of behavioral risks for physical illness (e.g., smoking); and research methodology, including item response theory and factor analysis. Dr. Acton has received grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the California Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program, and, most recently, the University of Leuven, Belgium, where he regularly spends summers engaged in investigations such as whether the latent structure behind major depression is categorical or dimensional.
